Tulum Ruins Tour – Private

At Xaman-Ha Connections®, we created the Tulum Ruins Tour as a private, half-day express experience for your group only, with your own SECTUR-certified bilingual guide. We built it with one objective: fit the whole tour into 4 to 5 hours, door to door, so you are back to enjoy your afternoon. Everything is covered before you leave the lobby: the Tulum Archaeological Site entrance, the Jaguar Park, all local fees, and cold drinks in the vehicle. We pick up from any hotel, resort, or condo in Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Akumal, and Riviera Maya.
Price varies by group size. The more people, the less you pay.

Tour Information & FAQs
Your private half-day tour of the Tulum ruins runs 4 to 5 hours, door to door, with a flexible pace.
- 7:00 to 8:00 AM: Your driver arrives at your hotel lobby at the agreed pickup time.
- Drive to the Tulum Archaeological Site: about 45 minutes from Playa del Carmen, 75 minutes from Puerto Morelos, or 25 minutes from Akumal.
- 1.5-hour guided tour of the Tulum Archaeological Site. Your SECTUR-certified guide covers the history, temples, and Mayan cosmology at your group's pace.
- Free time to explore the Jaguar Park and the ruins on your own.
- Cold drinks will be available throughout the ride, including water and soda for each guest.
- 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM late morning, with the rest of your day free.
* Times may vary depending on your location and highway conditions. Pickups are only our suggestions.
- No multi-hotel pickup loop. You travel directly from your hotel in a private, comfortable vehicle. Group tours from Riviera Maya resorts spend 45 to 60 minutes collecting passengers from multiple hotels before reaching the site.
- Your own guide works exclusively for your group and lets you set the pace: stay 30 minutes or a full hour at the ruins, whatever your group prefers. No crowd management, no splitting attention between 30 people.
- You arrive early, before the crowd buses. Most large group tours reach the Tulum ruins between 10:00 and 11:30 AM. Your private departure means cooler temperatures, shorter lines, and better conditions for photos and exploration.
- No souvenir shop detours, no upselling on site, and no lunch or add-on activities built in. Your itinerary is yours, kept fast on purpose.
The Tulum Archaeological Site is open-air, with stone paths, steps, and very little shade. We depart early on purpose: temperatures climb after 9:00 AM and the large group buses reach the site between 10:00 and 11:30 AM. Expect walking on uneven ground throughout. Weather and road conditions can shift your pickup time, and your driver adjusts it accordingly.
The Tulum Archaeological Site is one of the few walled Mayan cities built on the sea. The Maya called it Zama, meaning dawn, and chose the cliff above the reef for astronomy and maritime trade along the Caribbean coast. El Castillo, its cliffside pyramid, still stands watch over the water.
We pick up directly from any hotel, resort, or condo along the Riviera Maya coastline, including:
- Playa del Carmen: Fifth Avenue, the downtown area, and all hotel zones.
- Riviera Maya resorts: all properties between Playa del Carmen and Akumal, including Puerto Morelos, Playacar, Puerto Aventuras, and Bahia Tankah/Soliman.
For pickups outside these areas, please contact us via WhatsApp before booking and we will confirm availability.
This tour suits couples, families, and travelers of most fitness levels, as long as everyone can walk on uneven ground. A few conditions to know before booking:
- Not recommended for guests with mobility issues or difficulty walking on uneven terrain. The Tulum Archaeological Site has stone paths, steps, and unpaved surfaces throughout.
- The tour involves walking and standing at the site.
- If anyone in your group has a health condition that may affect physical activity, let us know at booking so we can plan accordingly.
