The drive from Merida to Uxmal takes about one hour by private vehicle on the toll highway. Because pickup is door-to-door with no shared hotel stops, you depart on time. You arrive at the site with the full day ahead, not 90 minutes behind schedule.
Uxmal is an open-sky site with uneven ground in places, and the cenote stop comes right after. Pack for both:
- Closed-toe walking shoes with grip
- Light clothing, a hat and sunglasses for the open-sky site
- Biodegradable sunscreen, which protects the cenote water
- A swimsuit and a towel for the cenote
- A small amount of cash for tips and souvenirs
