Tour Information & FAQs
Tulum sits within the territory of the ancient Maya city of Zama, an active ceremonial center for centuries. The surrounding jungle was used for ritual purposes long before the modern town existed. Indigenous practitioners in the region continue to work with native plant medicine, including cacao, in settings rooted in living cultural continuity, not tourism recreation. That combination of historical site, natural environment, and active local practice makes Tulum one of the few places where this ceremony is still anchored in its original context.
Yes. Xaman-Ha Connections® works exclusively with SECTUR-certified bilingual operators and local Mayan practitioners with years of experience in ancestral ceremony facilitation. We have been featured in Forbes and Kayak as a reference for private tours in the Riviera Maya. For full credentials, visit our About page.
Every ceremony is unique, but generally it involves a guided meditation, intention setting, drinking cacao, and a sharing circle. Participants often report enhanced self-awareness, feelings of gratitude, and deep relaxation. The cacao used is ceremonial grade — unprocessed and significantly stronger than commercial chocolate.
The ceremony is open to anyone interested in exploring their inner experience, deepening a spiritual practice, or seeking calm and clarity. It is suitable regardless of spiritual beliefs, gender, cultural background, or age. Participants with heart conditions or those taking SSRIs should consult a doctor before consuming ceremonial cacao, as it is a vasodilator and mild stimulant.
