Your private cenote day covers about seven hours, door to door, with a flexible pickup between 7:00 and 8:00 AM.
- 7:00-8:00 AM: Pickup from your hotel or condo in the Hotel Zone, Costa Mujeres, or Playa Mujeres
- About 1.5 hours scenic drive through the Yucatan jungle to your first sacred pool
- Swim in a hidden open-air natural cenote surrounded by jungle
- Descend into two cave cenotes with stalactites and stalagmites

- The cave cenotes stay cool and dim year round. Water temperature runs about 68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit depending on the season, refreshing rather than cold
- Getting into the caves means a short, guided descent, the one part of the day that asks something physical of you
- The open-air cenote is the warmest and brightest of the three, and the best one for photos
- Rain does not close the cenotes. If anything, it is a great time to visit, since the pools stay full and the jungle keeps you cool. Only a rare tropical storm forcing an official site closure would change your plans, and we will work with you on a new date if that happens
The cenotes of the Yucatan are sinkholes left when the limestone bedrock collapsed over the largest underground river system on Earth, more than 1,000 miles of flooded caves.
- The ancient Maya treated them as entrances to Xibalba, the underworld, and left offerings in them for more than 2,000 years
- The stalactites and stalagmites inside the cave cenotes grow a few centimetres per century, so the formations you swim under are older than the Maya themselves
- The water is filtered through limestone rather than fed by rivers, which is why it stays clear enough to see the bottom from the surface

- Do not touch the stalactites or stalagmites. Oils from skin can permanently stop their growth
- No sunscreen or bug spray inside the water. Please rinse off before swimming
- Underground spaces may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues, heart conditions, or claustrophobia. Let us know when booking if this applies
- No food, drinks, or smoking allowed inside the caves
- Bring extra cash for tips and any souvenirs at the site
- Pack light: comfortable shoes, light clothing, sunglasses, and a hat
- Bring a towel and swimsuit, you will be swimming in all three cenotes
